Good Friday and Discipleship

Updated: May 13, 2024

Why is it Good Friday if what happened was so Bad?

One thing that is Powerful about the Holy Spirit is the way He moves nothing is a mistake. At the beginning of the year, I was given divine instruction to study Exodus and immediately I was inspired by the wonder the Israelites had at God’s presence.

For months (even possibly years) they witnessed Moses and Aaron request the Pharaoh to let them go to worship their God in the wilderness. And Pharaoh continued to deny them plague after plague until Passover: where every house of Israel was instructed to kill the firstborn male lamb: eat all of and dispose of every piece of it. They were also instructed to spread its blood on the door of every house of Israel, so that the Lord can know whose house to keep his plague from.

In Hebrew culture at the time, the day started at evening of the previous day. So on Thursday evening after the Last Supper, Jesus’ Good Friday started with Peter denying he ever knew Jesus; and Judas trading his Master for 30 pieces of silver (roughly $600 today). However, what was happening in the world of flesh couldn’t compare to what was happening in Spirit.

Jesus’ was Mary’s firstborn son, and often considered the Lamb of Christ. And was sacrificed to ensure the freedom of all the children of Christ. Even in Crucifixion Jesus says, “Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?” Matthew 26:55-56

To FREE us, to give us life more abundantly and to protect us from the plagues of the world. It is now more important than ever that we spread Jesus’ blood on the doors of our hearts and minds so that we may be clear of any misinformation, any hatred and destructive thought patterns that floods our media.
